Cradle Boat Fillets

This may be a dumb question, but how do you get the copper wires out of wood fillets?  I completed a Wherry a couple of years ago, but I can't remember what I did.  The plans say to snip them off flush, but it isn't possible to get them perfectly flush, you end up with all of these little barbs along the hull that I don't remember having to deal with.  Not to mention, if the wire is left on the inside, it will be an eye sore in my opinion.  Do you just make the fillet so big on the interior that it covers the wires?

RE: Cradle Boat Fillets

Snip one end of the wire close to the wood.  Touch a sodering gun to the other end and it will easily slid out with a gentle pull from plyers.

Some builders make small epoxy 'welds' in the spaces between the wires, then when these have cured, they then untwist and pull out the wires before creating the remainder of the fillet.

The copper is soft enough to sand it flush with the exterior if you have already glued them in.
