Shearwater 17 hull fiberglass

While in the process of preparing to fiberglass the hull, I see that the 2nd layer of fiberglass only covers the bottom panels. I have some extra 4oz cloth on hand and was wondering if it would be smart to make the 2nd sheet the same size as the first or at least go up the sides a couple of inches in order to toughen up the hard chine corners. Here in Missouri we have a lot of rocks and I need a tough boat.

RE: Shearwater 17 hull fiberglass

The beauty of building your own is you can do whatever you want. If you anticipate that you need more protection on the outside of the hull, by all means build it a little tougher.
