You used some words I'm not familiar with. But if you sanded the varnish down, level enough so you couldn't feel the scratch, revarnished the area and now the scratch shows it is likely in the epoxy and orininally through the varnish instead of "in" the varnish. Does the scratch show fabric in the scratch?
