Passagemaker

johnyesterday I got the 3rd and 4th planks on and attached the transoms.  Per the instructions, there is ample overlap of the planks at the bow transom.  How much is ample?  Right now the length measured from the top of the transoms is 11 feet 6 inches.  Is that about right?

Thanks,

RE: Passagemaker

Hey John,

Although I haven't gotten to that stage yet in my TAPM, I have built an EP.  Fitting the transoms was the only place where I needed an extra set of hands to help pull things into alignment.

The published length is 11' 7" so you're really close.  Having "ample overlap" is much better than insufficient overlap.  As long as all your planks/transoms are pulling themself together into a structural boat shape, I'd let the boat tell you how long it wants to be and keep moving forward.  Good luck!  We need more PM posts here since the demise of PMBuilders.net...
