Epoxy Resin tint vs paint for kaholo?

Greetings all, I'm a first time builder a little ways into building the kaholo 14 from plans. I was wondering if there was any reason I couldn't use resin tint when glassing the hull instead of painting afterwards?

RE: Epoxy Resin tint vs paint for kaholo?

epoxy tint may color the epoxy but it may not provide UV protection.

epoxy breaks down in sunlight so it either needs to be painted to varnished with a UV-inhibiting varnish to protect it.

check the technical specifications of the tint you are considering.....unless it provides UV protection, you will want paint or varnish.

Good point hspira, I do understand it would still need to be varnished. My thinking though was that the resin tint might be cheaper since no primer is used and would be more scratch resistant. Would the tint weaken the epoxy mixture enough to be a concern or have any other cons?
