Varnish under footpads - Kaholo

I'm at the point that I'm ready to start finishing my Kaholo.  It will have a painted bottom and sides, and a varnished top.  I've got a half can of varnish left from prior builds, and am eager to conserve it.  Is there any reason to varnish under the foot pads?  If one of the main functions of varnish is UV protection for the epoxy, I see no reason to waste it where the sun does not shine.  Will the footpad material adhere just as well to bare epoxy as to varnish?  Am I missing anything?   Thanks!

A coar or 2 might make it easier to remove the pads at a later date.

Thanks George.  I hadn't thought of that.  I've read that it can be pretty tough to remove them.  Do you think it would pull off the varnish with the pad, in other words, the varnish/epoxy bond would not be as strong as the self-adhesive/epoxy bond?

I varnished my to SUPS  before gluing down the pads.
