Glass over glass

I built a Cocktail Racer from a CLCkit. Came out very nice, except the bottom needed to be flattened or made straighteron aftest 24 inches. Built upepoxy resin and balloons. Repaired Delammedfrom hull. When built hull was fully glassed and painted.

I'm cutting out bad parts to repair.Do I need to get down on wood hull or can I apply epoxy/glass over only roughed up surface?

RE: Glass over glass

no need to go down to wood

epoxy and and fairing material can be bonded to roughed up glass/epoxy surface.

that said, the bond will be mechanical so prep it properly with rough sandpaper and make sure it is clean and not contaminated.

for fairing, you can only resolve so much unfairness....microballoons are not meant to laid on particularly thick.   not much in the way of structural properties.

may want to refer to west systems technical manuals for advice (even if not using west systems they have a whole manual available on their website on boat repair and cover issues like fairing).
