Expedition Wherry - Completed

Here's some photos of the maiden voyage (ok, launch) of my expedition wherry.  As most projects go, it took longer than predicted (250hrs) but I'm happy with the results.  Looks pretty good and the rowing performance is as predicted.  I can now outrun my wife in her custom strip kayak.

As for the construction, I lied to myself when I started, thinking I was going to build it to the plans and not complicate the project. That didn't last too long and when I got to the deck I completely went off the reservation.

Deck is spec'ed as plywood, but this is all book matched WRC planks. All of the dark field planks for each end were split from the same plank for color preservation/consistency. Combing is sapele laminated in place. I wanted to cold mold it but the wood said no.

I know the seat is in backwards.Wherry side
I knew going in to this that I would be unhappy having the S&G artifacts showing in the final finish so the hull would be painted. Color is Flag Blue and shows beautifuly with the amber glow of the bright finishes.
