I purchased a pair of used piantedosi oars for my Annapolis Wherry back in March. On a recent outing I noticed what felt like a break on the handle of one oar. When I removed the rubber casing on the handle the wood appeared to have dry rotted - lamination came apart - no structural integrity and broken clean through about 3 inches down from the end of the handle. Anyone ever seen anything like this and or any suggestions to repair. I considering removing the deteriorated part and constructing an ash replacement - screwed, epoxied and fiberglassed. Other than that does anyone have one oar piantedosi they would like to part with?
