Annapolis Wherry Rescue

Was thinking of a wherry build for this winter and started looking around. Found a neglected and twisted one. Figured if I can build one I sure can fix one so home she went.

She was built with a twist in the stern, seemed to start about a foot behind the aft thwart. Also has been outside uncovered for a long time. All varnish is gone from the outside and most epoxy UV weatherd away. No rot. Okume is great stuff.

Got home and cut out the stern seat and bulkhead. Cut all the lap seems from stern about 3.5 feet forward. Clamped a board to the stern, screwed the boat down solid and twisted the board to get the back of the boat correct. Reglued the seams, glued in a new bulkhead and seat. She held her shape and is close to perfect. Installed a new skeg and now am on to sanding and epoxying the outside.

As all know row wings are hard to come by so started looking. Found a canoe rig and oars. Will need to make some mounts on the gunwale to attach the stablizer bars or whatever they are called.

Will not be varnish material but is a marsh fishing machine more that anything.
