Protecting/enhancing stem of Chester Yawl
Thinking of adding either a metal (brass/bronze) or wood strip (perhaps mahogony) to the stem of my almost complete Chester Yawl. Since the outside planks will be painted off-white, the contrast could be quite attractive.
Anybody out there tried this with their boats?
I thought it would look great as well as protecting the stem.
Also, not sure where to buy metal strips for this purpose.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks John. Yeah, I really wanted metal: the wood strip idea was just an after thought.
I've done lots of business with Jamestown Distributors. I'll check it out.

Rich, You can buy solid back brass half oval material from Jamestown Distributors. Your idea of a contrasting wood strip doesn't sound very appealing to me. But that's just me.
