High humidity and paint question

I know "high humidity" has ill effects on performance of paints like Pre-Kote and Brightsides, so I need a definition of "high.'

I have a hygrometer in my garage. could someone please give me a safe perentage cut-off.  E.G. am I okay at 60? 70?

Thanks1

RE: High humidity and paint question

For human comfort, the dew point temperature seems to be a better indicator than the relative humidity. Not sure if the same holds for paint. But the most reliable answer would probably come from the paint company tech support.

RE: High humidity and paint question

I've always tried to keep shop temp and dewpoint 7° apart. Thinking the painted surface will cool as it dries and if it gets too close to dewpoint, well, not good.

This may help figure the dewpoint in your shop:http://www.ehow.com/how_6550701_calculate-dew-point.html?ref=Track2&utm_source=ask
