Skerry how to put glue where the gains are?
Hi,
we are about to glue the stitched hull, at bow and stern where the panels fit into the gains there is practically no opening where we could put the epoxy in. How did you deal with that?
Thanks for your advice!
Regards,
Reinhard

Thanks for help. Will try not to worry and believe in the power of epoxy.

Reinhard,
by the way - I hear that the plastic bottles used by restaurants (see here for some pictures http://www.thefind.com/kitchen/info-restaurant-squeeze-bottles) are very good for epoxying the hull together, instead of the syringes provided with the kit. The glue won't stick to the bottle so you can clean easily and reuse them. Also you can put a lot more glue in and do not have to constantly stop and refill. I can confirm the syringes were a pain to use and if I did it again I would use the squeeze bottle instead.
Also, it might be worth joining the Skerry yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CLC_Skerry) - I've gotten a lot of very useful advice from them.

Mihai,
thanks - very good idea - the tacking with the syringes was ok, but as you say a little bit of a pain. Should read the forum every day! Will join the yahoo group asap.

Don't worry about putting glue in the gains - I don't think it's necessary. The glue 'trough' will just taper away to nothing at the bow and stern. The glue fillet in the extremities will keep the boat together, as well as the many other coats of epoxy that will follow.
