Hi all:

I've been slowly building a Great Auk 17 and I'm at the point where I've stripped the hull and deck and I'm ready to take the next step.

I've been following Nick Schade's book and he appears to cut and lay the recess prior to fairing and glassing the deck.  Others seem to fair and glass the deck and then cut the recess.

Which method is better and why?
