skiff parts

On a wooden skiff, what is a rail and what is a stringer? Please help this novice. Thanks.

rail would be the top of the sides. also known as the gunwales. stringers are the longitudinal structural pieces on boats that are used to make the boat stiffer and to fasten the floor pr deck.
