Teak as alternative to cypress

Would teak be a good substitute for cypress? I'm building a Kaholo SUP and can't find cypress locally but did find some very cheap reclaimed teak in the right dimensions.

RE: Teak as alternative to cypress

Teak is heavy, but not much lumber in the Kaholo so no real sweat there, but I'm not sure if teak bends like cypress - never used teak for anything.  A subsitute for cypress would be pine/spruce available at a local lumberyard. Cedar, western red or atlantic white will work as well.

Teak is also very oily, and might not play well with epoxy, although recycled teak might be dry enough. Ash is another alternative that bends well. -Wes
