Will Insignia cloth work on dacron sail?

i'm working on a Northeaster Dory from a kit and would like to add a design to the dacron sail.  According to a web site I found it sounds like Insignia Cloth might work.  It's described as an adhesive backed light weight polyester sailcloth that is used for insignias and numbers on sails. Does anyone know how this product works?  Would I be able to cut out a design with this fabric and stick it to the sail?

The simple answer is yes, that's what it's for. If the design is very intricite you would be wise to zigzag stitch around it. You can do this on a household sewing machine if you wait 'till your wife is away.  SEEYA Jack

Thanks for the tip.  From the description in the catalog, I thought the Insignia cloth would be compatible with the dacron sail, but wasn't sure about the adhesive.  Stitching it sounds like a good option. However, since I've used the sewing machine only a couple times, I'm probably going to have to let my wife in on this little project.  - Wayne
