Any advice on storing a kayak outdoors for the winter ?
Would the temperature changes harm the structure/finish in any way ? I can store in the basement, if it's going to make a big difference.
Thanks.

RE: Winter Storage
Inside storage is always best I reckon if you have that option. If not, then a good cover over the boat and adequate ventilation around it.

I agree with Laszlo, inside better. That said, assuming that you live where water turns to walk way, outside is OK, it is the drastic temperature change that is the killer. I was visiting a flying museum and the hangar was freezing. Since they regularly brought the aircraft out for exercise they could not heat the hangar/workshop as the drastic temp changes causes all sorts of issues... now I am beginning to re-think my indoor storage during my winter outings, I am ontrack for paddling each month in 2010! hmmmmmm

Eastern Canada, where temps could vary from -20C (-4 deg. F) to +10C (50deg. F) during the winter.
Guess if I can make room inside, I'd better.
Thanks.

Where is winter? Miami Beach or Juneau?
Basement is always safer.
