This is not the same sort of application, but I used epoxy to secure galvanized sheet metal to reinforce a tube for a telescope I made. I have had it about 9 years (I think) and never had a problem.

It does sit in the sun on occasion, although I tend to take it out near the end of the day. It's way too big to be used as a daytime spotting scope, but that hasn't stopped me.

Another concern might be glare, especially if it's in front of you, you might find it annoying when the sun was at the right angle to bounce off of it.
