I'd advise against that partial wetout procedure. The solidified resin will fix the unwetted edge in the position that it was left in; i.e. you may be left with a ridge, or more air pockets caused by partially wetted glass that in stage 2 and 3 will be too rigid to lay flat. Before doing any glass work, sand area smooth as glass dosn't like hard corners, vacuum out the dust/dirt, apply fillets. I'd start with the bottom and up one side then other side, check for dribbles and deal with them as you go by brushing them up. "Work clean!"
