wood duck 12 transom

wow..this boat sure is tough to build!
I am getting ready to put the transom in. If it were just a triangular piece with no curve, I think I could force the sides in.
but with the curve???????? even with wetting the wood, it seems like I would need 5 or 6 stitches alone to hold that curve.
Any words of wisdom? I know Kim already broke hers.
And what about leaving it out altogether?
