I believe the Peace Canoe is built without Epoxy, and is made watertight using Sikaflex or some compound of that type. Not so great for doing scarfs. There seem to be two choices here. Either peel it off and remake it (using wood glue) , or use a doubler in the manner you suggested in your blog. That would get it back into line before the compound hardens any more. To make it look right, perhaps the doubler could be full length, with the joints in different places. Then you'll need one on the other side... :-)
