(trying this post again).
The engineering test results prove that the wood adds a lot of the strength.
The statement oft repeated here, 'most of the strength is from the glass and epoxy, the wood is mainly there as a form' is apparently a misconception.
If it were true, the A1/A2 (load across grain) samples would not have taken much higher loads to break than the A5/A6 samples (load parallel to grain)
