Re: Gel coat repairs

The gelcoat look came out of a mould, and might be hard to reproduce by painting on gelcoat and sanding it smooth. A common method for sprucing up fiberglass yachts whose gelcoat has faded and gone brittle in the sun goes like this: Sand it down smooth, fill any dings amd scratches with bondo or thickened epoxy. Sand some more, and paint with marine polyurethane. It's a harder finish than gelcoat, and bonds to fiberglass really well. Oh, and CLC sells it. There's a shop tip too.

Shop Tip: Marine Polyrethane.
