The metal cutting blade has smaller teeth for a smoother cut, has a thin kerf. The narrow slot that it leaves is nice if you are cutting flush hatches. Unfortunately, metal blades that are narrow front-to-back for cutting curves are hard to find. Wood blades for curves are more common, and fine for non-flush hatches.
