My brother and I, building a pair of MC 16.5's, wondered if we had the scarf joints correctly aligned. So, we decided to do the "scientific" thing, and compare our layup to the plans. Only to discover we were well off by more than an inch. No way adjusting the scarf could fix that distance. A quick call to CLC turned up the same answer as posted. The plans and the kit, are not the same. Sigh. Anyway, turns out the craft design allows for slight differences and it all works itself out. As it is, our two boats are close but not exact copies either. No matter, carry on.
