Darkening of Varnish
Posted by Chris on Aug 28, 2007
Howdy
Tonight I pulled off all of my deck rigging, masked the edges and sanded the deck with 220. Looks fine. I opened the varnish and whoa! its dark as night in there. The Z-spar Capt's varnish is only a few months old and has been used sparingly. But somehow in the last few months it went dark on me. Do I need to go get a new can? It'll be a pain in the arse to do, but I don't want any troubles with this (quick) refinishing of the deck. I applied some varnish to another project this eve as a test, we'll see how it goes. I just don't want to apply the stuff and have it age prematurely (start cracking, etc.)
By the way, when I pulled off the deck rigging, there were shadows. Kinda neat. The boat is stored indoors. It gets plenty of use, but I never expected such defined shadows.
Thanks in advance.
