Re: drill-fill-drill

The method that I used on my boat, and has been working for two years with no problems is this: Mask area around hole, Drill appropriate-size pilot hole, Drive screw to cut threads into wood, Remove screw, Drip unthickened epoxy into hole, Use bamboo skewer or similar stick to swirl epoxy around inside hole to make sure entire surface is wet, Wait a few minutes to let epoxy soak into wood, Drive screw back into hole making sure to use the threads that were cut into the wood the first time, Clean up squeezed-out epoxy, Remove screw, Clean epoxy off screw, Let epoxy cure. You now have a waterproof hole with epoxy-reinforced threads that exactly match the threads on the screw.
