cartopping?

Just curious what rack system people have found is the best to use for the Chesapeake kayaks. I'm getting close to finishing my 17 and have been looking at all the different racks and such, but just not sure which will be the most secure. Also not sure if carrying the kayak flat or on it's side is best. Any suggestions?
