If I'm not mistaken it's best to cut into thinner straight strips, allowing extra wood for the kurf of the blade, etc. Once the pieces are cut, scarf and glue 'em. Then you can loft the points from your prints. When lofting, make sure you have a perfectly straight line from which to locate your points... I used a chaulk line to establish my initial straight line, then lofted to points off of that. That's the reason for allowing a bit of extra wood. Hope that helps. Any other (who are ALL far more experienced than I) wish to chime in? Did I get it right?
