And I've, rather recently found that "PFD" and "Life Jacket" are not the same! PFD- personal floatation device is what you should (read must) wear in/on a personal watercraft of the non-motorized (unannoyingly) quiet variety. It allows free movement to easily allow paddling and is designed to keep a concious person afloat so that person can get back on/in his kayak/canoe. Life jacket is what you want on you when your 3 deck, quad motor, luxury, super money yacht you dared to call Titanic II sinks under you and you pass out with grief and find (later) that your life jacket will keep your face out of the water to allow breathing so you can later contemplate visiting Titanic II as a wreck site.
