six of one half dozen of the other. It's more important that the wood doesn't have any bumps that raise the glass up and the first wet out coat is squeegeed even.
If it's hot start with small batches first, 6oz or so. Mixing up a pint and pouring it on the hull is a good way to pour 8oz right on to the ground.
