Repairing small scratch

Hello, I am currently looking at a lightly used Chesapeake 17. The seller has sent me several pictures and everything looks good except for a scratch that has exposed a small amount of cloth. Should this dissuade me from completing the purchase? If I do purchase it what would be the best quick fix? What would be the best long term fix. Thanks
