Re: Protecting Skerry bot

We had similar concerns when building our Passagemaker Dinghy. So, with helpful technical advice from CLC, we added a second, wider layer of glass to the bottom during construction. Now we have a double layer on the exterior of the bottom panel, and a single layer that spans out and covers the #1 panels port and starboard.

It definitely adds weight, though. And CLC explained at the time that this extra cloth would primarily provide abrasion resistance (which is what we were after), rather than strength/impact resistance. Apparently for impact resistance it would be better to put the extra glass on the interior of the hull.
