Without picking on Mike's wife, people who are not strong swimmers have no place out on water that's too deep for wading. For them, a swimming class is a lot better answer than ANY kind of PFD. Even strong swimmers should practice exiting their boats, just to get comfortable with the idea and the procedures needed to keep them alive. Anyone depending on just a PFD is at a severe disadvantage when suddenly dumped. Panic is the enemy of reason, practice is the enemy of panic. Your enemy's enemy is your friend. I can't think of any more duck-billed platitudes.
