I have to install wooden cleats to mount seats in a cedar strip boat. I’ve located the seats and beveled the 1 by 2 cleats to the inside shape of the hull. I thought I’d clamp the two cleats to the seat and apply glue to the beveled surface of the cleat and press the assembly to the hull at the desired position of the seat. I need glue that sets up quickly, won’t run and does not need clamps. Would the 3M 5200 work? I understand it’s for permanent bonding and is hard in about thirty minutes. Would I need epoxy fillets to further strengthen the joint?
