Marine adheasives
Posted by Greg M. on Jul 13, 2007
I have to install wooden cleats to mount seats in a cedar strip boat. Ive located the seats and beveled the 1 by 2 cleats to the inside shape of the hull. I thought Id clamp the two cleats to the seat and apply glue to the beveled surface of the cleat and press the assembly to the hull at the desired position of the seat. I need glue that sets up quickly, wont run and does not need clamps. Would the 3M 5200 work? I understand its for permanent bonding and is hard in about thirty minutes. Would I need epoxy fillets to further strengthen the joint?
