Thank you all for your responses. I got my hands on a DVD titled "The Brent Reitz Forward Stroke Clinic". It gives me some idea as to what I'm getting into, but the recommendations from you folks clarify a few more things that I have to consider. I'd never try surf, white or rough water. I mainly want to fish, so nice flat calm water is what I'll be looking for. Thank you all for your help and recommendations.
