Another must is hooking your sander to a shop vac. Takes most of the dust out while the filters described above will get the balance. Before varnishing clean your shop thoroughly by vac and mop on the floor and wiping down all surfaces you can get too - even the ceiling. After each coat of varnish ban all from the room until the varnish sets up enough to not be tacky. Dust is one of the reasons I wet sand epoxy and varnish as much as I can.
