That boat is not as elegant. It's 2 feet shorter yet no lighter, more complicated to build and uses beveled frames and stems which are sufficiently complex that the kit maker feels that they must be provided, rather than made by the builders.

The beam is wider in relation to the length, so the initial stability should be better (though the shorter length takes some of this back) but with the lesser flare there's less reserve stability. It'll be a slower boat, too.

So I guess I don't see any advantage in going with that style of design. If/when CLC makes a pirogue kit, I suspect they'll go with the pre-stressed monocoque type rather than plywood on frame.
