Thanks Charlie. Does this mean that I get to run for office? :-)

I never had mine in anything more than some riffles in the upper Potomac, but we did bang into and scrape over some serious rocks while overloaded with 2 people plus gear (pictures on my website in the "Cruises" section). I think you make an important point - the paddler's experience and judgement is the most important part of seaworthiness in any craft.
