MiniCell Power Carving
Posted by Chris Braman on May 23, 2007
I'd been shying away from carving a seat, so I made up a seat for my plastic boat out of 1/2in sheet minicell foam as a test for making one for my CLC boat.
But I picked up one of these a wheels that's like an abrasive impregnated floor buffing pad on an mandrel to carve some knee braces and I think I'm going to go back and carve a seat and hip braces.
It's sold as a paint scraper/stripper at my local "super big box" store.
It worked so well. It was like "machining" the foam. It cut so well I was able to machine out a groove for the sheer clamp in one pass.
