Re: Rub Rails

Facing the same dilemna, recently I was able to expand my search to lumber yards in search of greater choice. After much discussion with a local yard, I settle on 1" square mahogany strips, which I intend to router into shape.
At home improvement stores I have only found pine, but ideally I would go with: Mahogany (first choice) Douglas FIr (second) White Oak (third)
And if I didn't want to take the extra effort to shape the rails myself, I would go with 3/8" half round strips.
I defer to others with greater experience in this area, but this is the route I am taking on my 17LT.
