Cutting back to expose the end pour is structurally OK. It also looks OK if you plane it back square, then add an epoxy/silica/woodflour rubstrip to create a rounded stem. That is the recommended method on the Arctic Hawk, and having done it, I like the look. Mine came with two tubs of woodflour, one normal and one chocolate colored. After much thought, I saved the dark stuff to use for the rubstrups/stems, and it looks pretty sharp. (Might have been a mistake on CLC's part, though)
