this is what you'd do LONG AFTER everything is all glassed up and you intend on painting the hull to cover the mess because it HAS to be perfect. Personally I think it's like putting lipstick on a farm animal to fair a four panel hull with fairing compound. If you were making a 500lb sailing hull or 20ton trawler it would make sense.
J.Schott suggestion makes a lot more sense if you haven't glassed anything yet.
