Re: rescue vests or tow r

I have the Salamander Retriever that I can recommend. It doubles as a throw rope and towing device. There are 8' and 55' towing options. Quick release belt is a must. Only drawback that I see is that it can be a bit cumbersome when you are laying back during a roll.
I'm not sure how useful the throwing component would be in a sea kayaking situation. The use is obvious for white water and near shore situations.
My vest isn't all that exciting and I'm looking to aim for a lower profile vest with more bells and whistles at some point. Currently I'm in a LL Bean Type II vest. Some rescue style vests inclue a tow rope or are set up for a tow rope (Kokatat and NRS).
Hope this helps some.
