I think Joey hit on it, you're working too large an area. Load the roller and run it up and down the dry ramp of the pan to evenly distribute the paint on the roller and squeeze out most of the paint. Then roll on the paint into a small rectangle you can cover with the paint on the roller (1 to 1.5 sq feet). Then tip and repeat. If you reload the roller and roll on more paint before before tipping the previous area it will dry out and leave you with a holiday (hardly a holiday, more like "overtime" to fix it later!).
