Varnishing Frustration

I think varnish has the ability to attract the smallest particle of dust in the house. I clean the room in the basement as best I can, use vacuum and tack cloth after sanding and then start varnishing. I've read books on how to do it, but I've concluded the only way to get a mirror finish is to have a special room "squeeky" clean. I've read about people shaving all their hair and varnishing in the nude, but I'm not about to go there. I really want a very nice finish, but my facilities won't allow it. I'm just going to have to learn to accept the dust splotches. Sigh.........
