Primer/paint

I purchased primer and paint from a local marine supply. The paint "expert" at the store recommended Interlux Pre-Kote for my epoxy coated Chester Yawl. The Interlux web site says not to use this product over clear epoxy. Has any one had any luck with this product? If so what surface prep is needed?
