I make a pair of frames that match the deck radius for each hatch and glue them to the hatches to hold the shape. No springback that way and they fit well. I also notch the frames on each end to hold an internal bungie which is attached to the bottom of the boat. I used small loops of bungie for hatch pulls on this one and they work well also. The hatches are water tight.
