Jeremy,
All my boats were built with standard S3 and they look just fine. S3 will finish up darker than Silver Tip, but I don't see a problem with that. S3 also laminates just fine, it just needs a bit more practice and control than Silver Tip. I've never had a blush problem, either. S3 has a potential to blush, but that doesn't mean that it has to blush. washing is a good idea, though.
